The earliest human remains they have found are from Lake Mungo. Lake Mungo is a dry lake in the south west of New South Wales, the state where Sidney is. The person was 40,000 years old, but some researchers believe that they came as early as 70,000 years ago. A lot of people think that the Aborigines were the first people on earth.
Some people think the ancestors of the Aborigines came to Australia by sea during one of the earth’s periods of ice age. The Australian environment had very low technology people, but they managed it and adapted well. They bred up to somewhere between 200,000 and 500,000 people. Since their technology was not advanced, they were able to spend more time finger-painting on the walls of caves, and that served them very well.
